The Burke County Board of Commissioners is inviting the public to attend dedication ceremonies for the new Burke County Judicial Center
on Tuesday August 27th.
The day starts with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 9:00 AM on the front steps of the Judicial Center. A time capsule will also be placed at this time to be opened a century from now.
After that, there will be an official Dedication Service in Courtroom #1 in the new building. There will be a number of speakers and selections from the Burke County High School Chorus. Chief Justice Harold Melton of the Georgia Supreme Court will be offering the keynote address.
Following the Dedication Service there will be a reception in the first-floor lobby. An open house will continue with tours of the facility being given for the remainder of the day.
Burke County Judicial Center is an 83,000 square foot facility with four courtrooms and modern security features. “This facility should serve the people of Burke County for the next 100 years”, stated County Manager, Merv Waldrop. He added that “this is a building that everyone should feel proud of.”
The public is encouraged to come and participate in the day’s festivities.
