2017 Georgia Open Shooting Dog Championship

The 2017 Georgia Open Shooting Dog Championship winners were announced this morning at Di-Lane Plantation near Waynesboro. The winner was "Way better Rocky". Owned by Carl Bishop, Collin Bishop, and Muriel Primm
The handler was Mike Tracy. Runner up was "Easy Holy Water", owned by Muriel and Bill Primm with handler, George Tracy. Congratulations to the Bird Dogs, their handlers and owners.
Di-Lane Plantation in Burke County is one of the oldest and most prestigious bird dog events in the country. The Georgia Derby Championship and the Georgia Open Shooting Dog Championships are held here each year.

Waynesboro railroad crossing closure coming after New Year’s weekend

By:WAYNESBORO- Surface upgrades will close the railroad crossing on State Route (SR) 24 inside the city of Waynesboro Tuesday, Jan. 3. The Norfolk Southern track area repairs should take one day. During this work, traffic will detour using SR 121 and the US 25 Bypass/Burke Veterans Parkway. Detour signage and barricades will be placed prior to the closure next week. Local traffic will have access up to the crossing location.

Taxes can be paid online, by mail or in person at the Tax Commissioners Office. For those who have motor vehicle taxes due in January, you should look up the amount and pay online or in the office.
